In your own words, give a summary of the article we read in class today. Some items to discuss: what are the names of the American political parties in French? What are their symbols in French? Who is the French President? How are their terms different? Does this article feel that Obama's first term has been successful? What does the article say about Romney? What is bipartisanism?
The article "Election preseidentielle americaine: Obama ou Romney?" was about France's view on the American election between Barrack Obama and Mitt Romney. Here in America we have two dominate political parties, the democrate and republicain parties. The words for these two parties in french are les democrates et les republicains. Their symbols in french are l'ane (demorates) and l'elephant (republicains). The French president is Francois Hollande. The terms are different because in America there is a limit of two and in France there is no limit. Yes, the srticle feels Obama has had a successful first term. The article says that Mitt Romney is Republicain. he organized the 2002 olympics, and how he tried to run for president in 2008 but failed and is now trying again. Bipartisanism is a political party where two parties are dominate and alternate in power.
ReplyDeleteWe read an article about the American presidency. The American political parties in French are Republicains (l'elephant) and Democrates (l'ane). Francois Hollande is the president of France. In America a president can run for a maximum of two 4 year terms, in France there is no limit on terms. The article believes Obama's first term was successful because of his passage through struggles. It says that Romney tried to run in 2008 but did not get past the primaries. Bipartisanism is being made up of two parties in this case Two Political parties.

ReplyDeleteBasically the article was just talking about the United States Presidential election. It discussed what they called the different parties and how they felt on both men running. The Republicans are called l'elephant(with and accent over both e's) and the Democrats are called l'ane(with a carrot over the a). Francois Hollande is president of France. The article feels Obama was struggling at first but then he got better and fulfilled his duties. The article feels that Romney is very rich and he organized the Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City in 2002. Bipartism is supported by members of two parties.
